Dr. Navneet Singh Khosa

Dr. Navneet Singh Khosa is a highly respected physician with a deep passion for Addiction Medicine. He earned his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the esteemed Manipal Academy of Higher Education in India and later pursued postgraduate training in Family Medicine in the UK. Throughout his training, Dr. Khosa gained extensive experience across multiple medical specialties, with a particular focus on Addiction Medicine and Mental Health. His 18-month training in these fields included participation in the Methodology for the Randomised Injecting Opioid Treatment Trial (RIOTT), a pivotal study that evaluated injectable methadone and heroin treatments in comparison to optimized oral methadone treatment. As a result of his expertise, Dr. Khosa was appointed as a Community Specialist Physician in Addiction Medicine for the County of Durham, UK. 
 
Dr. Khosa's career took him to regional New South Wales, Australia, where he further honed his skills in both Primary Care and Addiction Medicine. Working in a hybridized medical system that integrated public and private healthcare, he gained invaluable insights into providing comprehensive care to diverse patient populations. In addition to his medical training, Dr. Khosa expanded his expertise by becoming a Master Practitioner in Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP) and Life/Business Coach. By incorporating these skills into his clinical practice, he significantly improved patient outcomes and satisfaction, reflecting his holistic approach to medicine. 
 
Since being appointed Medical Director at The Smart Clinic in 2020, Dr. Khosa has played a pivotal role in expanding the clinic's scope of services. He leads a dedicated team in Calgary, delivering compassionate care to marginalized communities while focusing on Addiction and Mental Health.
 
Dr. Khosa's commitment to advancing treatment for Opioid Use Disorder is recognized internationally. His passion for teaching and training has allowed him to help update skills for other healthcare professionals in Australia and Canada. He serves as a spokesperson for Opioid Use Disorder treatment and sits on the Medical Advisory Board for Indivior Inc. He is currently the lead investigator for the Phase IV Longitudinal Study of Sublocade (Subutex prolonged release), which evaluates clinical outcomes in adults with Opioid Use Disorder. 
 
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Khosa is a devoted husband and father to three boys, bringing empathy and understanding to his work as a physician and leader in the medical community.
